Pontianak State Polytechnic (Polnep) is a vocational higher education system which emphasizes on the mastery and development of science and technology in order to support the era of industrialization. In general, educational system applied in polytechnic has characteristics as follows:

1.    Uses competence-based curriculum

2.    Professional education which emphasizes on competence building to handle certain work/technology according to standard practice

3.    Theory and practice teaching is organized in order to strengthen both analytical and practical skills.

 
TEACHING STAFF

Pontianak State Polytechnic has 372 lecturers who have been trained with specific education and training for teaching at vocational schools/polytechnic conducted either in Indonesia or overseas.

1.   The Department of Civil and Planning Engineering which consists of Diploma 3 on Civil Engineering Study Program and Diploma 4 on Housing Planning and Settlement Engineering Study Program.

2.      The Department of Mechanical Engineering which consists of Diploma 1 on Operator and Maintenance of Heavy Equipment Study Program and Diploma 3 and 4 on Mechanical Engineering Study Programs.

3.      The Department of Electrical Engineering which consists of Diploma 3 on Electrical Engineering Study Program; Diploma 3 on Electronic Engineering Study Program, and Diploma 3 on Informatics Engineering.

4.      The Department of Business Administration which consists of Diploma 3 on Business Administration; Diploma 4 on Governmental Agencies Administration, and Diploma 4 on Automotive Business Administration (*).

5.      The Department of Accounting which consists of Diploma 3 on Accounting Study Program and Diploma 4 on Public Sector Accounting Study Program.

6.      The Department of Agricultural Technology which consists of Diploma 3 on Plantation Product Processing Technology Study Program; Diploma 4 on Plantation Crops Cultivation Study Program, and Diploma 4 on Plantation Management Study Program.

7.      The Department of Fisheries and Marine Sciences which consists of Diploma 3 on Fish Farming Technology Study Program; Diploma 3 on Fishing Technology Study Program, and Diploma 3 on Fish Processing Technology Study Program.

8.      The Department of Architecture Engineering which consists of Diploma 3 on Architecture Study Program; Diploma 4 on Building Architecture Study Program, and Diploma 4 on Built-Up Area Design Study Program.

9.      Outside Domicile Study Program (PDD) in Singkawang which consisted of Diploma 2 on Informatics Engineering Study Program and Diploma 2 on Plantation Product Processing Technology Study Program.

10.  PDD in Polewali Mandar Regency which consisted of Diploma 2 on Plantation Product Processing Technology Study Program and Diploma 2 on Mechanical Engineering Study Program. (Closed permanently)

11.  PDD in Kapuas Hulu Regency which consists of Diploma 3 on Civil Engineering study program; Diploma 3 on Plantation Product Processing Technology Study Program, and Diploma 3 on Fish Farming Technology Study Program.

12.  PSDKU in Sanggau Regency which consists of Diploma 3 on Mechanical Engineering Study Program; Diploma 3 on Accounting Study Program, and Diploma 3 on Plantation Product Processing Technology Study Program.

 (Majority of the study programs available in Polnep have got their accreditation status, except for (*) sign is still in progress.)

 FACILITIES & INFRASTRUCTURES

1.        Laboratories which consist of: Civil Engineering laboratory; Mechanical Engineering laboratory; Electrical Engineering laboratory; Agricultural Technology laboratory; Accounting laboratory; Architecture laboratory; Computer laboratory; Language laboratory; and Business Administration laboratory.

2.        Workshops which consist of: Civil Engineering workshop; Mechanical Engineering workshop; Electrical Engineering workshop; mini factory.

3.        Classrooms which are able to accommodate 7000 students.
