Director of Pontianak State Polytechnic (Polnep) welcomed new students of academic year 2022-2023. This year’s welcoming event was quite special because of 3 reasons. Firstly, this was the first time new students were welcomed by Polnep’s Senate through its open meeting. Secondly, this was also the first time to use the hall of new Polnep’s integrated building. Thirdly, this batch would be the last one welcomed by current Director of Polnep. “Since I will end my second office term in March 2023,” said Director H. Muhammad Toasin Asha at the beginning of his remarks in the event of Polnep’s Senate Open Meeting which conducted in Polnep’s brand new integrated campus building on Tuesday (6/9), 2022, and attended by all members of Senate and other guests.
“Therefore, allow me to give my highest appreciation to all members of students’ enrollment committee who have dedicated their hard work to make this event possible,” Director Toasin remarked. He also revealed that Polnep accepted 2.426 new students for academic year 2022-2023 to study in its main campus which has 8 departments and 22 study programs. “We accept more students this year compared to previous one,” he added.
“I highly hope we are able to keep this new building functioned properly together for as long as possible since it belongs to all of us, hence it is our responsibility to safeguard it,” he said. Director Toasin continued his remarks saying that it was normal for new students to feel strange at new environment and know only little about campus life, therefore, they must follow campus introductory program (PKKMB) seriously in order to get comprehensive knowledge about college life.
Moreover, in his speech, he informed his audience that Polnep currently has formed a Task Force against Sexual Violence in Campus. “Do not hesitate to report to us if you experience sexual harassment, we will process the report right away. We would not tolerate violence in campus during new students’ orientation program, as well. Orientation program aims to introduce new students to their new environment,” he remarked.
At the end of his speech, once again, Director Toasin bid a welcome to all new students of Pontianak State Polytechnic. The event was continued by putting on alma mater jacket to student representative symbolically witnessed by the Chair of Polnep Senate, Deputy Director of Academic Affairs, and Deputy Director of Student Affairs.
