Language Unit of Academic Support (UPA Bahasa) of Pontianak State Polytechnic (Polnep) collaborated with Polnep’s Office of International Affairs (KUI) in organizing A Sharing Session on Tips and Tricks to Win Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) 2024. On this event, participants had opportunities to obtain valuable information on how to apply IISMA and tips to conquer English Test as well as to learn directly from the awardees of IISMA 2023. IISMA itself is a program/scheme launched and funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology which is aimed to fund Indonesian college students to experience one semester of teaching and learning activities at one of leading universities overseas. The sharing session was conducted on Friday (2/2) and taken place at Rinjani Room of Polnep.
The event was attended by Vice Director for Academic and Planning Affairs, Head of UPA Bahasa, Head of KUI, and 4 IISMA 2023 awardees from Polnep, namely Cassandra Effrida Susilo (student of D4 on Accounting who went to Asia University, Taiwan); Tania Diah Ayuni (student of D4 on Housing and Settlement Planning who went to Ecole Superieure du Bois, France); Devira Melinda Gustiono (student of D3 on Accounting who went to Teesside University, UK); Adinda Putri (student of D4 on Housing and Settlement Planning who went to University of Missouri Kansas, USA).
The workshop was started with participants singing national anthem “Indonesia Raya” (Great Indonesia) followed by reciting prayer. Vice Director I H. Irawan Suharto delivered welcoming remarks and officially opened the event. He advised the students who succeeded as 2024 awardees to be responsible to take care of themselves and maintain the good reputation of Polnep. Moreover, Irawan Suharo called all the participants to be serious in listening the tips and tricks session and hoped that those who applied for IISMA 2024 would succeed in their application.
Meanwhile, Head of UPA Bahasa Nurul Fitriani, Ph.D. conveyed her unit’s full support for students applying IISMA 2024. She also explained some information regarding TOEIC Test, such as the form and type of question, test’s schedule, and minimum score required by IISMA 2024. Next, the session was continued by the Head of KUI Muhammad Ali who explained IISMA 2024 in detail, including the criteria, selection stages, and key information on how to apply for the program.
Surely, IISMA is a program which is full of benefits and advantages that included opportunities to experience academic atmosphere in a renowned overseas university as well as to expand insight through a different academic environment. Students are also able to learn a various culture and respect cultural differences. Moreover, they would learn to see the world from a new perspective and enrich their experience at life, not to mention understanding international issues and develop their critical thinking skill. Last but not least, by participating in this program, students could enrich their resume and add self-value to apply for jobs in the future.
